The First Line of Defense Against Oral Health Problems
Your smile is often your first message to the world, shining brightly before words are exchanged. Your teeth play a key role in many day to day activities, including eating and talking. With proper care, they’ll last a lifetime–and that’s the goal of general dentistry.
Of all the medical care you receive in your lifetime, general dentistry is perhaps unique in that the work it does is mostly preventative. Your dentist is your oral health primary care provider, and during regular visits they’ll examine and clean your teeth, looking for and potentially diagnosing and treating a wide variety of conditions, disorders and diseases affecting the teeth, gums and maxillofacial (jaw and face) parts of the body. General dentistry plays an important role in the overall health of patients of all ages and all stages of life. Whether you need a basic exam and cleaning, a cavity filled, or something a bit more serious your general dentist is the first place to go. At Queen City Dentistry, our goals for primary dental care is to elevate the overall health of our patients, based on their individual needs and circumstances.
The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends that patients visit their general dentist at least once every six months to ensure proper oral health and functionality. In keeping with the goals of general dentistry, regular oral health check-ups and maintenance help to prevent the development of serious dental problems that may require more extensive and costly treatments. General dentists are highly educated and trained in multiple facets of dentistry, providing a variety of different services for you and your family including:
- Crowns and bridges
- Dental implants
- Gum disease (Periodontal) treatment
- Root canal therapy
- Dental fillings
